Reading that the Mac version has a few more capabilities than the iPad version, I opted for the Mac version. Neither are expensive in comparison to Illustrator, yet nevertheless are costly enough that you don’t want to have to purchase both. It’s available for both the Mac and the iPad. I decided to see if I could find a cheap app that was comparable and what I found was iDraw. I have tried to use the drawing capabilities in Pages, but it just pales in comparison to what I am used to with Illustrator. Enough years have passed that I don’t even have the current software for Adobe Illustrator. iDraw is available for a fraction of the price of Adobe, at just $24.99, and does nearly as much, but much more than Pages.Įven though I am no longer a graphic designer, I still have friends who occasionally ask me to do a logo for them. At just under $600, it’s definitely out of the question for casual designers. The only downside to it is that it comes with a huge price tag. I worked in the graphic design/printing business for twenty years, and the software that could do it all was Adobe Illustrator. Lots of people learned how to use scripts so that they can save lots of time and perform more complex operations that truly fit their needs.Casual digital artists now have a cheaper app than Adobe Illustrator. Routines can automatically apply a series of actions to every image on a folder, place random objects on a layer, and even more.
